North East Cambridge Forum

South Cambs District Council have asked us to share the following information

The next North East Cambridge Community Forum is taking place virtually on 22 March, from 6pm. The forums help those building the development, and those most affected by development, to have an open dialogue. Everyone is welcome to join this online event to hear about plans for the #NEC area and discuss these with planners and developers.

20mph Speed Limit consultation

Milton Parish Council has voted twice to push for 20mph limits throughout the village. We now have the opportunity to request that County puts this in. We are asking for the 20mph to replace the 30mph signs at the edges of the village and a section of 30mph northwards to beyond the allotments on Ely Road.

If you would like to comment for or against this proposal please send your response to the Clerk – clerk@miltonvillage.org.uk

Safety barriers moved

The barriers on the pathway connecting Gunnell Close and Woodman Way have been moved with the gap between them increased from 1.2m to 2.6m.

We took advice from the Highways Department and listened to the comments from the local residents and cycling group before coming to the conclusion that moving the barriers was the preferred option.

The extended width between the barriers allows for easier passage of cargo bikes, mobility vehicles and buggies while maintaining safety for all users.

Update on local bus fares

We have been asked to share the following message from Stagecoach –

“Good morning,

We’ve done our best to hold back fare increases but due to rising costs, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to increase our fares across the East from 8th January 2023. We will continue to offer the same ticket types, but at slightly different prices.

These are the first network-wide fare increases we have made for over four and a half years, since April 2018, and we’ve worked hard to absorb significant cost increases to keep fares below the rate of inflation. The changes will add on average just 39p onto the cost of daily adult bus travel.

Please take a look at the attached booklet [link] for full details on the new fares. Further information will be available on our website from 10am today.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us at east.headoffice@stagecoachbus.com  ”

Wondered what has happened to the village pump?

The pump in Cambridge Road has been taken away for a refurbish. Unfortunately, the top cap is missing, and we are having to get something else made to complete the project.
When the pump returns it will also include a large information board and a sculpture. All hopefully to be revealed early in 2023. This make-over is another one of our arts funded projects using money given to Milton Parish which must be spent on arts related ventures before 2024 otherwise we lose it. No funds from the council tax are used for these projects.

Have you seen this?
We need to find the pump cap to complete our renovation of the village pump in Cambridge Road. If you have seen this anywhere or know where there is a similar one please let the Parish Clerk know.
