Parish Plan

The Parish Plan is an exciting project spearheaded by Parish Councillor Phil Badley. Phil chaired a Steering Group which designed a questionnaire that was sent out to every household in Milton. Responses were by and large very positive, but a few areas of possible improvement were identified. These areas form the basis of an action plan for the village.

A summary of the survey responses and action plan, entitled "A Plan for Milton" (Adobe/PDF, 424KB), was recently sent out to all households in the village. The questionnaire (Adobe/PDF, 225KB), full survey report (Adobe/PDF, 141KB) and unabridged action plan (Adobe/PDF, 203KB) are all available online.

Four working parties, under the umbrella of the Parish Council, have been set up to address the issues raised in the action plan.

The Communications Group is looking at ways to improve how residents receive information about the village. The Group is also planning to produce a directory of Milton businesses. You can join its mailing list here.

The Environmental Group organises regular litter picks around the village (all residents are encouraged to attend - look for advertisements on the parish notice boards and village website). The Group is also keen to promote recycling efforts as well as investigate possibilities for home energy schemes, such as grants for insulation and micro-generation schemes. You can join its mailing list here.

The Police Liaison Group is creating an updated Neighbourhood Watch Scheme for Milton. The Group also assists our elected officials in representing the village at quarterly police liaison meetings and is discussing security issues raised in the Parish Plan survey.

The Transport Group is working through the concerns raised by residents in the questionnaire by considering the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, bus users and motorists. The Group also assists the parish council by investigating the feasibility of improvements to transport infrastructure. You can join its mailing list here.

At present we do not have a dedicated Village Appearance Group. Anyone with views and ideas on village appearance is urged to get involved so that the group can be set up in its own right. Please contact the Transport Group leader.
