A Quality Parish Council

Quality Parish Counci logo Milton Parish Council has been officially declared a Quality Parish Council.

To be recognised as quality the parish council had to pass tests to show it went above and beyond the service offered by a standard parish council.

The standard of the council's annual reports, communication with the public, accounts and ethical framework were among the categories assessed. The council had to demonstrate that it had reached the required standards having a properly trained clerk and regularly communicating with residents.

It also had to prove it is effectively and properly managed, with members and clerk upholding a high standard of conduct.

Parish Clerk, Jim Daniels said: "This award is really good news for both residents of Milton and the Parish Council itself. I believe the Parish Council has made a real difference to the village delivering and funding a whole range of projects and local services."

Chairman, Jane Coston said: "I am delighted that we have achieved this award. We work hard and I believe we are an active and efficient council, delivering high quality services for the residents of Milton.

The panel looked in depth at how we work and also trawled through a whole range of documentation from how we run our meetings, what we achieve for the village to how we keep our accounts - it was very thorough. We were also assessed on the commitment of our councillors and the clerk, who has attained a high level of training having studied (part-time) for two years at the University of Gloucestershire.

The Quality Parish Status award is proof of hard work and commitment by the clerk and members to a standard of excellence in public service."
